So here I am again, it has been a few weeks but I am taking some time to update my blog. Your welcome Lily, Tiff, etc. Ok, I will try to catch up from my last blog in late October.
Halloween was lots of fun! We had some family over to our house for dinner and to enjoy all of the trick-or-treaters coming to our door. I must say that the numbers were small, but we still had a wonderful evening! Mackenzie was Snow White and was adorable as you can probably imagine.
The only little set back to her costume was the knot/rash/open wound on her forehead from earlier that day when she and stucco on the side of the house became friends! I have to laugh only because it occurred on Guy's watch, not mine and the story behind it just makes me giggle. Needless to say, she is ok and besides looking like a battered princess, no major tragedy occurred.
As for Guy and my costumes...what can I say! We were pretty creative and had everyone laughing on our block! My husband was dressed in a chef jacket and apron appropriately titled "Bun Maker". I looked lovely in my oven costume with working latch on oven door and authentic oven knobs from our very own kitchen. The stove top design was detailed and looked like the real thing. I of course was "A Bun In The Oven"!!! Good times! When you opened the oven door, it revealed a bun baking (25+wks to be exact). It was one of a kind and I owe Guy many thanks for making such a great kitchen appliance to wear. Our family laughed, our neighbors laughed, most of the children did not really get it, thank goodness! We never really left the house, except to take Mackenzie to a few neighbors houses to trick-or-treat, and then around the corner to visit Erika & Brandon at Brandon's parents house. We didn't win any costume contests, though we probably could have if we actually had gone somewhere! It was a fun evening and we were all in bed shortly after 9pm! I love to sleep!
Ok moving on to another day... Saturday the 1st was a fun day too! My inlaws took the family out to dinner for teppan yaki to celebrate my birthday (belated from Sept) and also as a farewell dinner to Jana & John who left for China a few days later. Anyhow, it was a fun dinner and I always love to eat some good Japanese food! It was an early dinner and then I was off to my 10yr reunion planning committee meeting! Yes I know, it's still crazy to me to think of how fast it has flown by. I got nominated to the committee because somehow I have become known as the walking yellow pages of our graduating class. I do not know how I hear these things, but somehow I do...I really do not know how I know the things I do. Anyhow, we have a great group that is putting together our reunion and I am excited to be a part of it. We finalized a date (Saturday November 7th, 2009...for all of you CW c/o 99 grads) and are busy working away on the planning details. We are meeting up again after the holidays to keep woking away on the big event, but there is lots to do!!! We hope it is as successful as we are expecting it to be!
Ummm, let's see, this past Saturday I went to a baby shower for a friend and co-worker, Brianne! It was lots of fun and Erica (another friend & co-worker) did a great job hosting the event! Her mom catered and the food was sooooo yummy! There were lots of people from work and some friends from high school & college as well! It was a fun time and Brianne was truly showered with gifts!
After that I drove up to the cabin to meet up with Guy, Mackenzie and the fam! The drive up was beautiful and there were lil patches of snow on the side of the road as I was entering Shaver. When I got up to Huntington, it was almost sunset and simply breath-taking! There was some snow on the ground here and there and the air was so clean and fresh. It was chilly and I had to wear a sweatshirt...I was loving it! The girls made dinner while the boys did who knows what...we all ate dinner then let Mackenzie entertain us by performing songs, dances, and showing off her gymnastics skills. We played Yatzee and just hung out by the fire, it was perfect! We went outside to make s'mores, but it started raining so we moved inside where we roasted marshmallows over the gas stove! It started snowing a little bit before we went to be but when we woke up in the morning...
This is what my car looked like! We probably got 3-4 inches and it was a winter wonderland! We got all bundled up in snow gear and went outside to play in the snow! Uncle Tom and Dad were plowing snow, Guy and Mackenzie were helping too!
I took these pics on my phone and was so impressed how well they turned out! My lil snow bunny and her Daddy!!! So darn cute, I know!
She wanted to help and shovel snow so we put her to work! Don't know much about child labor laws, but she insisted on it!
Anyhow, we had a big breakfast with sweet potato pancakes, apple cider syrup, eggs, ham, linguisa, cinnamon swirl bread...shall I go on? After our tummies were nice and full, Brooke and Mackenzie grabbed their sleds and their daddies to go find snow covered hills. They had so much fun playing and making snow balls! Guy tried to get me a few times but even me and the belly were able to dodge his aim! It was 36degrees outside most of the day on Sunday! I think it was 33 when we first woke up at 7am, but never really warmed up, so the snow stayed. Guy and I had to drive home mid afternoon, but I was able to sneak in a lil nap with Mackenzie before headin down the hill! We had our last meeting of the Crown Financial Study that we have been taking on Sunday evenings. We love our group and it was kind of sad to meet for the last time, but we know that we will stay in touch and see most of the people at church every now and then. We had a potluck at our facilitating couple's house and just had a really good time fellowshipping (is that a word???) and just getting to know eachother better. It was a 7wk study but we all are interested in taking the more in-depth 10wk study this spring. This one was good, but we all said we didn't want it to end, we were just getting started and there was so much good information to gain and apply to our lives. I highly reccommend the Crown Financial programs and it is absolutely amazing that there are 1,000's of verses in the Bible regarding finances in one way or another. Ok, well I really should be getting going, I need to go be productive of some sort. I have to thank Tiff for showing me how to add pics and a neat website for blog backgrounds...I am slowly learning all of this, so one day I can be a professional blogger. As for my amateur status, I will return again, sooner than later I hope! Until then, take care and Happy Monday!
